hansta bolta rahta hun lekin
sach puucho to 'zeb'
tabeeyat Theek nahin hoti
to pacify the heart
i try and speak smilingly, but
to tell the truth, ‘zeb’,
`don’t feel any better within

kis ne sahraa mein mere waaste
rakhi hai ye chaanv
dhoop roke hai
mera chahne wala kaisa
who has provided a shade
for me in this desert
how are my dear ones able to
protect me from this searing heat
