zindagi naam hai
mar mar ke jiye jaane ka
every breath, fani, is
the corpse of a moment gone
what we call life
is living through repeated deaths

Shaayar Badayuni seems to say we don't live one day at a time, we die one day at a time. He observes that with every breath, we are essentially burying a fragment of our life—the breath we take marks the death of the previous moment. Each inhale is not a sign of vitality but a subtle funeral procession for time already lost.
In the second line, he posits that life is nothing but living through deaths of the past moments or experiences. The shaayar blurs the boundary between living and dying, suggesting that to live is to constantly, quietly die—moment by moment.
