His poetry collections such as Aag Mein Phool, Mitti Ka Qarz, and Haroon Ki Awaz earned him lasting respect.
Himayat Ali Shayar also made a mark as a film lyricist in the 1960s and 70s, writing memorable songs for Pakistani cinema. His lyrics were lyrical, emotive, and deeply poetic, which gave him a place among the most respected lyricists of his era. His contributions to radio and broadcasting further expanded his reach, as he worked to bring poetry and culture to the wider public.
