Hasan Kamal was a prominent Urdu poet, journalist, and lyricist, remembered for his ghazals and his contribution to Hindi cinema. Born in Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, in 1943, he developed a deep connection with literature from an early age. He studied Urdu literature and began his career in writing through poetry, gradually making a name for himself in mushairas where his verses were warmly received.

His poetry reflected a modern sensibility, while still rooted in the traditions of Urdu literature. Hasan Kamal’s ghazals often addressed themes of love, longing, and social reflection, crafted with simplicity and lyrical beauty.
