Meer Mohammadi Bedar was a classical Urdu poet born around 1732 or 1733 in Delhi. He lived during the era of early Urdu literary development. He was a contemporary of Mir Taqi Mir. He had strong involvement with Sufism and spiritual circles.
His poetry includes roughly ninety-six ghazals and about forty-five shers. His writing shows depth of feeling, refined imagery, themes of longing, spiritual emotion and human vulnerability. His verses often express yearning and the inner experience of love mixed with separation and loss.
Bedar died in 1797 and was buried at the shrine of Sheikh Saleem Chishti in Agra. He is remembered by Urdu literature enthusiasts for his contribution to early Urdu ghazals and his role among the poets who shaped the poetic sensibility of his time.
