1 Urdu ash'ar / shayari (shers, couplets) by
1939-2022,
Bijnor (Uttar Pradesh)
Abrar Kiratpuri was born in 1939 in Bijnor. He dedicated his life to Urdu poetry, especially devotional forms like Hamd and Naat. Over decades, he composed more than thirty pieces each of ghazals and nazms, several sher, and a few naats. His work was compiled into numerous e-books and complemented by audio and video recordings, enhancing his reach among poetry lovers.
He committed himself to preserving Urdu poetic traditions by teaching language and poetry to younger generations. He spent many years mentoring students, encouraging the practice of Shayari, and lamenting the gradual decline of extensive Urdu learning.
One of his well-known verses emphasizes courage and inner strength:
“vasvase dil mein na rakh
khauf e rasan le ke na chal
azm e manzil hai to
humraah thakan le ke na chal”
Musically, this couplet can be interpreted as:
“Do not harbor doubts in your heart
Do not carry the fear of the noose
If your resolve lies with your goal
Do not drag weariness along as you go”
This line reflects his consistent message of persistence and resilience through emotional struggle.
Abrar Kiratpuri passed away in 2022. Though biographical details of his life beyond poetry remain limited, his legacy endures through his heartfelt contributions to Urdu literary culture and his efforts to pass the art forward.
