Swapnil Kumar Tiwari

Swapnil Kumar Tiwari, born in 1984 in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, belongs to the newer generation of Urdu poets who have brought a fresh voice into the literary world. Known simply as Swapnil Tiwari, he works from Mumbai and moves fluidly across multiple creative roles as a poet, lyricist, scriptwriter, and filmmaker.

His poetry covers ghazals, nazms, and couplets, each marked by lyrical imagery and sensitivity. His ghazals often explore emotional landscapes of love, memory, and human vulnerability. In his nazms, he presents reflections on everyday life and its hidden depths, giving a modern shape to timeless themes. His couplets are admired for their sharpness and ability to carry deep meaning in very few words.

Swapnil’s first poetry collection, Chaand Dinner Par Baitha Hai, introduced his voice to a wide readership and was appreciated for its freshness. He is currently preparing the release of his next collection, Zindagi Ek Udaas Ladki Hai, which continues to develop his style of blending traditional Urdu forms with contemporary experiences.

Living in Mumbai, he also contributes to cinema and media, writing lyrics and working in film projects. This engagement gives his poetry a layered quality, as he draws from multiple forms of art and expression.
