Jamil Ahmad Jamil was born in 1931 in Murassapur, a village near Manakpur in Pratapgarh district of Uttar Pradesh. He received his early education at Madrasa Islamia in Murassapur under the tutelage of Anjum Fuqi Badayuni.
He later moved to Mumbai where he joined the Urdu literary community. He became acquainted with well-known poets of his time including Shakeel, Majrooh, and others. He is also an art card designer by profession. Jamil continues to take part in literary gatherings and poetry events, celebrating Urdu poetry and its traditions.
One of his noted works is the poetry collection Benam Si Khushboo. The foreword to this collection was written by prominent Urdu poet Qaisar-ul-Jafri and critic Professor Mujahid Hussain Hussaini. His poetry is appreciated for its sincerity, warmth, humility, clarity of expression, lyrical mood and for personal voice that remains free of affectation or pretension.
Jamil Murassapuri maintains a reputation for kindness, meeting both great and ordinary poets with equal warmth. Even at advanced age he continues to participate in mushairas and recitations and maintains connections with newer poets. His son Nadeem Siddiqui is also known in literary circles.
