Biography
Hafeez Hoshiarpuri was an Urdu poet whose ghazals combined romance, elegance, and reflection. Born in Hoshiarpur in 1912, he grew up in a region that had long been associated with culture and learning. From an early age, he displayed a love for literature, excelling in Urdu and Persian studies.
He began his career as a teacher before entering government service, eventually serving in Pakistan after Partition. Despite the demands of his professional life, Hafeez remained dedicated to poetry. His poetry was often recited at mushairas, where his smooth style and lyrical beauty earned him wide appreciation. His ghazals carried a balance of romance and philosophy, reflecting both longing and contemplation.
