Hafeez Jaunpuri

Hafeez Jaunpuri, whose real name was Hafiz Muhammad Ali, was born in 1865 in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh. He became one of the respected poets of classical Urdu poetry during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Writing under the pen name Hafeez, he developed a distinct poetic voice that combined simplicity, elegance, and emotional sincerity. He lived most of his life in his hometown, where he devoted himself to writing and to the literary circles that kept Urdu poetry alive in that period.

Hafeez Jaunpuri’s poetry focused on human emotions rather than grand themes or philosophical speculation. His ghazals are marked by their gentle tone and thoughtful imagery.
