Nazar Biography

Malik Zahoor Ahmad, who adopted the pen name Nazar, was born on 22 August 1923 in Sahiwal, now in Pakistan. His life reflected many roles: electrician, contractor, hotel worker, farmer, and even poultry farmer. Despite limited formal education, he pursued learning through personal reading and emerged as a respected Urdu poet and literary figure.

Over time, he took on editorial duties for Satlaj Weekly in Bahawalpur and served as secretary of Anjuman-e-Taraqqi Pasand Musannefeen. He contributed creatively beyond poetry, writing lyrics for the film Pasosi by V. Shantaram, and dramas for Radio Pakistan in Karachi and Bahawalpur. His poetic collections include Bheegi Palkain, Reza Reza, and Zanjeer-e-Wafa, with translations extending his reach across multiple languages.

Nazar passed away on 7 September 1981 in Bahawalpur, leaving behind a multifaceted legacy in Urdu literature.
